Interview with Miss Rose

Monika: Today I am going to introduce you to you Miss Rose, an Australian trans escort girl, model, and former commercial skipper. Hello Rose!

Rose: Thanks for having me. I love being me and sharing my story.

Monika: Could you say a few words about yourself?

Rose: When talking about myself I always find it hard, despite I have such a story to tell. I'm a post-op trans woman. I have had top, boobs, and bottom surgery, neovagina done, and absolutely loving it; it finally made me myself and I'm very proud of who I'm. It happened only a few years ago but it was so nice to be myself.

I'm an easy outgoing kind of girl, who loves catching up with friends and making new friends. Did I mention I love my job? 

Monika: Haha, I guess we can read it between the lines. When did you decide that you would like to be an escort?

Rose: In my younger years I was once a bit desperate for work, and I worked for a short time as a male escort. So after transitioning and finding out that no one would employ me in the marine industry anymore as a commercial skipper (my former occupation with teaching as well) I decided to become an escort. I had some contacts to help start me up, and haven't looked back.

I love what I do and I'm good at it. I usually tour the whole east coast of Australia, with my mobile in-call service 'Aphrodite".

Monika: There are many myths about the clientele of trans escort ladies. How would you categorize those guys?

Rose: Yes it's a different market, most of my clients are straight males, who want to "try out a post-op trans woman". My looks do help, as some guys think they get the best of both worlds. I know intimately what a guy likes and I got my incredible long legs. But some guys like crossdressing or just want to know more about trans women. It's funny how some guys get really addicted to me and other trans girls. I have many regulars.

Monika: Do you sometimes escort women as well?

Rose: On occasion I do, they just want to know all about me, and they are fascinated by my life's story and who I have become. I even get some pre-op trans women as well. I'm one of the very few post-op trans girls who work as an escort.

Monika: What do you do to take care of any security issues? How to avoid dangerous individuals?

Rose: I'm a licensed commercial skipper, because of that and other life experiences, I'm a very good judge of character. And if in doubt, I won't see the client. It's very rare I have problems with clients. The other thing is that trans escorts, in general, have fewer problems with clients because they think we still have the same strength, which in my case is definitely not so. (I'm on hormones)

My phone does have its tracker turned on, and if I do anything risky, like a submissive session, I let someone know. Due to the fact that I'm a touring escort, I'm in a different spot every 4 days. Only my regulars know where I park my mobile in-call service 'Aphrodite', and I only work after 9pm if a booking has been made beforehand.

Monika: Is it possible to make both ends meet with being an escort?

Rose: For me, with my lifestyle, I can, although in the current climate it's up and down a lot. I'm lucky to have some savings for the quiet times. I save a lot by working and living in 'Aphrodite', it wouldn't work for me otherwise. But I have only been working for a few years and my business is still expanding.

Monika: I did a couple of interviews with trans escort ladies or adult movie actresses and usually we agreed that there is nothing wrong with doing porn or being an escort but it closes many other career doors, as the world wrongfully judges such behaviors. Were you not afraid of this?

Rose: For me, it was the other way round. When I transitioned, especially when I got my bottom surgery done, I lost all my work in the marine industry, I used to be a commercial skipper and teacher, also used to do yacht maintenance. Only one or two people would still give me intermittent work, not enough to pay the bills. So I decided to start working in the only industry l felt I could make a living in. And I enjoy working there.

Monika: We all pay the highest price for the fulfillment of our dreams to be ourselves. As a result, we lose our families, friends, jobs, and social positions. Did you pay such a high price as well? What was the hardest thing about your coming out?

Rose: I came out twice, first I came out as trans. The hard bit was that I lost most of my male friends but not all, some are amazing and some other friends started to discriminate against me just because I'm trans. Apart from losing all my work as I described before, that was really the hardest thing.

When I came out as an escort, it wasn't such a big deal, because it was a smaller step than being trans if that makes sense, but some of my family don't talk to me anymore. For me it's silly. I'm very proud to work in the oldest profession in the world. And I get to meet lots of nice people and make new supportive friends.

Monika: Are there any transgender role models that you follow or followed?

Rose: To be really honest, I don't really identify as transgender, more as a woman, who is slightly different. Legally and medically I'm a woman.

Monika: Do you remember the first time when you saw a transgender woman on TV or met anyone transgender in person? 

Rose: That's an interesting question. I never really thought about it. No, I don't really remember. But I do have lots of trans girlfriends now.

Monika: What do you think about the present situation of transgender women in your country?

Rose: It's not an easy time, and I personally think, some things are getting better, but others are getting much worse. Hormone treatment and access to surgery are still not easy and expensive.

On one hand, trans acceptance is getting better, but on the other hand, I ended up paying for all my treatments myself, which most girls can't afford. I have lots of curious clients who want to learn about it, which is a great thing!

Monika: Do you like fashion? What kind of outfits do you usually wear? Any special fashion designs, colors, or trends?

Rose: Funny you ask, yes I love clothing. I don't follow fashion trends. I always wear something sexy. I love showing off my body, so I usually wear short skirts or dresses with revealing tops.

My latest thing is wearing a corset. Because of my work, I travel a lot and I have my favorite shops in different cities and when I'm there I can't help myself but see if they got something interesting. I love trying new things. It creates the problem of having too much clothing.

Monika: Do you often experiment with your makeup?

Rose: I always wear full makeup, I used to experiment, but now I have a look that I'm happy with, so I don't change that much anymore.

Monika: By the way, do you like being complimented on your looks?

Rose: It's always nice to be complimented on your looks. It's interesting; I know I do dress a bit out there, but I get regular compliments about my looks, not just from shop assistants but also from random people I meet, both male and female. 

Monika: Are you involved in the life of the local LGBTQ community?

Rose: I used to, but I'm always on tour to make a living. I do stay in touch with many girls in the trans community, also if possible I take part in the Sydney Mardi Gras.

Monika: How vocal is the trans community during The Sydney Mardi Gras? Could you say a few words about this event?

Rose: Normally I think the community is very vocal, but this year's event is very different. I was surprised to get an invite, which I turned down. I don't think it will have the usual community feel this year. I think it's a very important event to make people aware of trans and other gender issues.

Monika: Could you tell me about the importance of love in your life?

Rose: Hmm it's important to me but complicated, first by being a post-op trans and secondly by being an escort. I do have a special man in my life with no strings attached. There is always the dream of happily ever after, but we will see. It's on the wish list.

Monika: Many transgender ladies write their memoirs. Have you ever thought about writing such a book yourself?

Rose: It's funny you ask. Pretty much everyone I know has been asking me to write my story. It's a lot more than my transition. I have had a busy life and done many things, and it's a bit crazier than fiction, not sure anyone would believe it. I have been trying to start it a few times, but it's a long and very complicated story, we will see. I'm sure eventually it will happen.

Monika: What is your next step in the present time and where do you see yourself within the next 5-7 years?

Rose: It's been a hard road losing my old profession and starting from scratch, but I have done it before. The COVID thing hasn't helped, but I'm getting there slowly. I pay my own bills and I'm doing some interesting things apart from making new friendships.

I look a few weeks ahead, in 5 years' time, who knows, hopefully by then I have perfected my current business and progressed as the rare exotic post-op trans escort and I could have some really interesting clients, who appreciate such an exotic woman as me.

Monika: What would you recommend to all transgender women that are afraid of transition?

Rose: That's a difficult one. Follow your dreams and instincts. There is no right or wrong way. I was nervous, but I went to see a very known physiatrist in Sydney, he said within 30min of meeting me you need to fix this, it's a major issue, but it's not like that for all people at all.

The best thing I think is to get help. I transitioned in just over 12 months, which is very unusual. For most people it takes years. It's very expensive and you need support. but finally being yourself is the best thing.

Monika: My pen friend Gina Grahame wrote to me once that we should not limit our potential because of how we were born or by what we see other transgender people doing. Our dreams should not end on an operating table; that’s where they begin. Do you agree with this?

Rose: Yes, I do. Personally, I don't feel I'm trans, I'm just a woman. I have had SRS and top surgery, and I might be slightly different, but most cis women are jealous of my looks and long legs.

In my mind, I'm just being me, I don't feel trans. I just want to be me whatever that is. I know I have a very sexy look but that is just me, nothing else.

I love who I am and how I look. What much else can we ask for? It's not perfect but nothing ever is. But I am myself.
