Interview with Eirin Grinde Tunheim - Part 2

Monika: Given your beauty and intelligence, have you ever considered modeling or acting?

Eirin: I always have that in mind. I tried in the film industry during 2020. Unfortunately, Covid-19 limits my chance of getting a bigger role. After graduation (hopefully, Covid-19 is over), I will try again. This time I want to pursue my acting career in Hollywood. It's a bit hard when we are new and don’t have any connections. I just have to start a place and work forward.
I never had an opportunity in modeling yet. I tried earlier to apply for a modeling agency but without any luck. One day you will see me there, I’m working towards it! Actually, I want to be cast in a heroine role in Marvel movies. Haha. :)
Monika: Do you like fashion? What kind of outfits do you usually wear? Any special designs or colors?
Eirin: I do like fashion; back when I was 14-16, I used to create my own dresses, because I did want to be a stylist and fashion designer. (I had so many dreams). Today I wear simple clothes. I went shopping a long time ago (February 2020 for MIQ2020). As a student, I have to save money for my education, so I only wear warm clothes.
Monika: Do you follow the stories of other Norwegian transgender girls or do you always look up to girls in Thailand?
Eirin: Not really. Today, I look up to such personalities as Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Michelle Obama, Kamala Harris, and artists from South Korea. I got to a place where I want to work forward to the next level. I want to become more intelligent, create music with which I can tell people about my life stories. First, I never had a love story, there are so many love songs that I believe we all need love to get fulfilled. But in reality, we all need inspiration. We need someone to look up to.
To become me today I listened to many inspirational podcasts, YouTube channels, music, and movies. It helped a lot. I read almost 25 books about self-development and scientific-based books. I speed my personality growth rates by pursuing my hobbies.
Monika: Could you tell me about the importance of love in your life?
Eirin: I never had a boyfriend, not because I didn’t want to. I fell in love for the first time when I was 7 years old, and a couple of times afterwards, but only I knew that. When I loved them, I told them, and I kept being rejected until my secondary school years. It seems that I wasn't right for them. And in the end, I could always rely on my family and friends.

"Be yourself every day, do different
things so you can know your strength."

Today, I’m happy to spend time with my family. I cried every time I traveled back home and on my way back to my university. Because I missed them so much. My life for them is unconditional. Life gets very hard without family support, and in the end, whoever you are, you will always be their daughter, and they will always be your parents. Boyfriends/girlfriends will come and go. Life for LGBTQ people is sometimes hard because many of us can’t come out at home.
Monika: Many transgender girls write their memoirs. Have you ever thought about writing such a book?
Eirin: I already started writing my biography besides my daily draft. I have a diary book where I write how I feel, which I can use in my book. I just want to move my life to the next chapter. I designed my life and work to get there, I want my life to be full of challenges and this makes me excited every time I wake up.
Monika: What is your next step in the current time and where do you see yourself within the next 5-7 years?
Eirin: My goal next year is to graduate and become a dentist and then graduate from a Business School. In the last few months, I have become more serious about rapping and singing. I want to work more to become an artist and performer. And I also try movie acting and modeling. Whatever the results are, I still can come back and work as a dentist when I get older, doing my private clinics with knowledge from Business and Economics School.
It is hard to say where I will be in 5-7 years, I will use 10 years from now to learn about myself and try different industries. After 10 years, probably I will get ready for a business/start-up industry in the field where I am good at. It is very important to work hard in the area where I feel comfortable and that I can continue to work until I am 40 years old.
Monika: What would you recommend to all transgender girls that would like to follow your example?
Eirin: Be yourself every day, know yourself, do different things so you can know your strength. Even if you know what you are good at, you can still try different things (just for fun), and meet different people. Build networking. Read books about successful people, development books, scientific books. Know that there is no limit on what we want to be or do. If you're not comfortable in where you are now, move on! Have a dream and take action today.
Monika: Eirin, it has been a real pleasure talking to you. Good luck with your career and all the best to your family, friends, and supporters!
Eirin: Thank you so much for the interview, Monika. I wish you a good year. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. :)
