Monika: Are you involved in lobbying efforts, and do you believe transgender women can influence politics in Canada?
Lucia: I participate in efforts to influence Canadian politicians from time to time. Not long ago, I sent a letter to our senators advocating for the adoption of Bill C-279. I believe that living in a democratic country requires numbers to influence politics, and for this reason, it is vitally important for transgender individuals to first support their own interests and then those of their fellow transgender friends. Although I do not consider myself a professional lobbyist, I will not shy away from expressing our community’s interests when the opportunity arises because I understand that numbers matter.
Monika: How would you describe your personal style, and what role does fashion play in your life?
Monika: How would you describe your personal style, and what role does fashion play in your life?
Lucia: Yes, I am considered fashionable, with particular attention to detail. Proper accessories, matching colors, and attention to makeup are important. I also focus on grooming practices such as teeth flossing, hair care, and eyebrow shaping. I am more interested in blending in than following fashion trends. Mostly, I want to carry myself normally without drawing too much attention. Blue, red, grey, and black dominate my wardrobe, and I consider myself a normal woman who dresses for the occasion and follows her mood when choosing what to wear.
Monika: Are there specific items or details you especially enjoy incorporating into your outfits?
Lucia: Every morning can feel like an ordeal deciding what to wear. I do not follow fashion design, but I know what I like when I see it. I have a particular interest in shoes, jewelry, makeup, and nails. Is this a surprise? lol
Monika: What is your opinion on transgender beauty pageants, especially considering the criticism that they emphasize youth and physical appearance?
Lucia: I am not opposed to transgender beauty pageants, especially when they serve the great cause of raising money for charity and giving back to society. They can also be educational for the general public. I understand how some might perceive the focus on youth and beauty as excessive, potentially leading to unrealistic personal expectations.
Monika: Do you see any positive aspects of these pageants for the community and individuals involved?
Lucia: Nevertheless, I find it beautiful to see the positive intent, and if positioned properly, these events can be very constructive. As long as they do not encourage obsessive behavior or unrealistic expectations, they can help promote our community, contribute to society, and entertain the public. They can be a great cause and very rewarding for participants. I am convinced that we can appreciate beauty both within and externally, and on that basis, I support these pageants.
Monika: How important is love in your life, and what does it mean to you personally?
Monika: How important is love in your life, and what does it mean to you personally?
Lucia: Love is perhaps the most important aspect of my life. It starts from within, by accepting and loving myself for who I am. I admit that love from others can be hard to find, but I remain hopeful that my soulmate will find me one day. However, I also recognize that I do not need someone in my life to be happy, since I am happy on my own. It would be nice to have someone to come home to and share intimacy with, and I do not mean sex. I do not need anyone to make me feel complete, but I do recognize needing love, which would be a wonderful addition to my life. My transition has been my focus, and finding love will come after. I am realistic in my expectations and will accept only what is healthy and true love moving forward.
Monika: How do you see your future in love and relationships?
Lucia: At the moment, I think it is difficult to find someone who can love me for who I am with the parts that I have. Soon, this will change, and I will feel complete as a person and have a greater desire to find the right partner to grow old with and comfort each other. We all need to find love, and it exists around us in different forms. For now, that is satisfying and gratifying for me.
Monika: Are you currently working on any new projects or creative ideas?
Monika: Are you currently working on any new projects or creative ideas?
Lucia: I am contemplating ideas for a new book, one that connects the field of artificial intelligence with the application of technology, science, and human behavior. I am also considering a book that is very close to my heart, reflecting my passion for cooking. Although I am still indecisive, I remain deeply interested in growing my understanding of the transgender community and their specific needs. I will continue to invest time in advocating for our cause, and I am not ruling out another transgender book that outlines the rest of my journey as my transition to a woman continues. Too many ideas are floating in my head, but I know they will become more concrete and focused over time.
Monika: Are there other projects outside of writing that you are involved in at the moment?
Lucia: Recently, I have taken an old friend's terminally ill son under my wing as his tutor. My goal is to train and educate him in computer programming so that he can work as a freelancer from home and become self-sufficient. One thing is certain, I always seem to have a knack for generating new ideas in my mind, and I am sure there will be more in the future.
Monika: What advice would you give to transgender girls who are struggling with gender dysphoria?
Monika: What advice would you give to transgender girls who are struggling with gender dysphoria?
Lucia: The first step should always be to reach out for support, whether it is from support groups, a physician, a psychiatrist, or close friends. It is extremely important to remember that you are not alone and that many others are facing similar struggles. Surrounding yourself with people you can trust is vital, so be selective and realistic with your expectations. Only accept people in your life who are genuinely invested in your success.
Monika: How can transgender girls navigate challenges while staying true to themselves?
Lucia: Be cautious of those who are primarily invested in their own success, and do not try to do everything on your own. Trust your feelings, and remember that you never need to justify your emotions or prove anything to anyone. Follow your heart and instincts. You are worth it, and the world needs you as you are. By finding your inner strength and inner peace, you will discover self-love. I have done it, and so can you. I am not better than anyone else, and with love and care, you can thrive.
