Lenka Králová’s story begins with a realization that arrived later than she might have imagined, but once it did,
it changed the shape of her life. A software developer living in Prague, she understood at 37 that the feeling of
being somehow out of place in the role of a man had another name. At 38, she began taking hormones and stepped
into a life she had spent years imagining without quite knowing that it was possible. Her transition also brought
painful consequences: after fifteen years, her marriage ended, and she had to renegotiate what family could mean.
Yet she remained close to her former wife and deeply connected to her young son. Rather than keeping this
transformation private, Lenka began speaking about it openly. In 2020 she created V Tranzu, a YouTube program
devoted to transgender lives and experiences. Its most distinctive series, Trans Stories, brings trans people of
different ages and backgrounds into conversations about their journeys, allowing experiences that are so often
reduced to medical or political questions to become personal stories of ordinary life. Lenka has also become a
recognizable voice in Czech discussions about transgender rights, as a member of the organization Trans*parent and
through her media appearances.
